Sub-Region: Cova da Beira
Climate: Mediterranean with some continental influence
Soils: : Non-humic lytolic, with slight granite texture
Concept: Wine obtained from vineyards with over 80 years old, where the Trincadeira, Jaen, Rufete and Marufo varieties predominate, ensuring the sense of place of the region. To drink in good company and keep a few bottles to open over the years.
Grape Varieties: Trincadeira Preta, Jaen, Rufete, Marufo (from old vineyards).
Vinification: Hand-picked harvest for 15kg boxes. Reception with total destemming and smooth crushing, followed by a long maceration. Ageing in new and used French oak barrels for 12 months.
Tasting Notes: Intense ruby color, with hints of slight evolution. On the nose, it reveals notes of red fruits, wild plants and a slight smoke, typical of bottle aging. Good volume in the mouth, fine tannins and a pleasant freshness, typical of the natural acidity of Cova da Beira wines. The aromatic component is striking and complex, with perfectly integrated oak notes.
Serving Temperature: 16-18ºC
Pairing Suggestions: Roasted meats, grilled meats, oven-roasted sausages, pasta with tomato sauce.
